Yes, it is possible, you just need to use a different page builder element.
First, create a two column layout and set the wpbakery row to be boxed:
Then use one single album page builder element for each column:
Select the album you want to show:
and you should get something like this:

I feel like there should be a way to have both of these 50% of the grid when there's only two albums. Am I missing a toggle or setting?
